Legislative

IFM President/CEO Aaron Cocking testifies before the House Commerce Committee during the 2023 session.

The Minnesota Legislature convenes each odd numbered year in January.   During even-numbered years, the Legislature has some leeway on convening, but they generally begin sometime between late January and early March.  In all years, they are constitutionally required to adjourn in mid-May.

During the time when the Legislature is in session, the IFM is a constant presence around the Capitol. We are always working and meeting with legislators and staff to inform and update them on bills working through the process that impact the insurance industry. When bills are heard in committee, the IFM routinely provides relevant and impactful testimony to help legislators make a decision.
